Making the Most of your Summer: Wherever you may be

Summer looks different for every student—and that’s okay. Whether you’re continuing your studies or taking time away from coursework, the months ahead offer powerful opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.

If you are studying this summer, now is an excellent time to pause and reflect on your career direction. Are your current courses helping you build toward your long-term goals? Consider revisiting your career objectives and identifying how your academic work connects to the skills and experiences you hope to gain. Small adjustments—such as selecting a project topic aligned with your interests, updating your resume, or exploring related career paths—can help ensure that your time as a student remains intentional and meaningful.

If you are not enrolled this summer, you still have an incredible opportunity to invest in yourself. Volunteering, joining a community organization, or supporting a cause you care about can help you build transferable skills, expand your network, and deepen your sense of purpose. These experiences not only strengthen your resume but also help you develop confidence, empathy, and real-world perspective—qualities valued in every career field.

No matter your path this summer, growth doesn’t pause when classes do. Be intentional, stay curious, and take advantage of the opportunities around you. Your future self will thank you for the steps you take today.
