New York State Internship Program

The New York State Internship Program welcomes applications from undergraduate and graduate students attending colleges and universities throughout New York State, as well as New York State residents studying elsewhere. Interns are placed within specific areas of New York State executive branch agencies or departments, where they gain valuable experience, interact with government leaders and policymakers, and contribute to meaningful projects.

Students interested in applying are encouraged to create a personal NY.gov account, which can be done here: Select NY.gov ID account type. This will allow students to apply for internships directly through our portal here: New York State Department of Civil Service. Some internships are also being posted on StateJobsNY – Home

These internships offer a wide range of opportunities for students of all fields of study. Some internships are paid and allow interns to opt into to the NYS Retirement System. Giving them the opportunity to begin accruing pension service credit.
